In 2012 there were 32 new girl groups that made their debut in Korea. Out of those only a couple of handfuls have really put their names on the Kpop scene. I would like to talk about “ Fiestar “. 피에스타 and their song/video “Vista” in this blog. They are a six member group with Loen Entertainment that has an international representation. The leader is Korean born Jei 재이 along with 3 more Korean members, Linzy린지who was once a member of the YG team and Yezi 예지 and last but not least Hyemi 혜미. There are two other members, one from China and America respectively. First, Cao Lu 카오 루 who has recorded in China under the name LuLu and from America we have Francesca Ahn 프란체스카 안, ( Cheska 체스카 ).
After training for two plus years they released their first video with the same name as the album "Vista". This is a fast pace, upbeat song with a touch of rap in it about having fun. It has a story line where Cheska is a mad scientist and the others have super powers that they use to help their friend Jei who is entering a hard nose talent show with movie icons like Wonder Woman and Darth Vader mixed in. It has great harmonies and each lady doing solo parts combined with complex and pleasing dance routines. The background sets range from a simple lighting set of the group’s name to a bit more flashy later on but nothing over powering. The ladies dress/costumes are also very simple. There’s no need for skimpy outfits, jeans and tees work well. I hope to see much more of these ladies we call “Fiestar” 피에스타. You can see this one and other great videos on my Youtube channel.
