TaeTiSeo Twinkle 반짝 반짝 빛나다

TaeTiSeo is a sub-unit of Girls Generation consisting of (left to right)  Kim Tae Yeon김태연 (Taeyeon태연) who is the leader of SNSD. Next we have Seo Joo Hyun 서주현 (Seohyun 서현) who is the youngest (maknae) of the group. Finally, there is Hwang Mi Young황미영 (Tiffany티파니) who is an American of Korean descent. They have produced a mini-album and a music video called “Twinkle”.
The song is about a girl who shines like a star even wrapped in a veil of dull everyday clothing.  She wonders why it is that her man looks at her with an indifferent attitude when everyone else sees her as a shining star.
The video has a few different sets to it. The first is of them arriving in a limo to a red carpet outing with all the paparazzi awaiting them. Another is of them getting ready for their performance so to speak. I think this is giving us the impression of being beautiful even in their night gowns and having curlers in their hair, which they are.  Finally we see two of them coming down dual staircases leading to a ballroom type stage with Seohyun and a piano at center stage. There is a limited amount of dance to the video toward the end but it is well choreographed. In the final scenes they play a joke on the photographers by sending their dog through the front door while they laugh from the balcony above. I wonder if we will see more from this sub-group or are they too busy being part of the whole. Clicking on the video below you can see Twinkle and other great Kpop videos from my Youtube channel's favorite list.

F(x) 에프엑스 Electric Shock 전기 충격

The 5 member group known as f(x) 에프엑스 made their debut in September of 2009. This group has a truly international representation. (left to right) First we have the leader Song Qian (Victoria) who is from China. Next is Amber Josephine Liu (Amber) an American of Taiwanese descent. In the center is the maknae Jung Soo Jung  정수정 (Krystal) another American but of Korean descent. She is the younger sister of Jessica from Girls Generation. The two remaining ladies are both Koreans. First is Choi Jin Ri  최진리 (Sulli) and then Park Sun Young박선영 (Luna).
Their latest song/video is called Electric Shock 전기 충격. This  is a fast paced song with a catchy chorus. It talks about how the love of her man has her in shock. How she is losing herself to the overwhelming power of love like a Black Hole. Feeling the fever and how it sends waves through her. How his eyes are like lasers.  The Electric “Shock” of it all hampers her senses.
The sets are that of simple stages with rather elaborate lighting backgrounds that simulate electricity running through circuit   pathways. There are no matching costumes as we see in many other groups. Instead it seems to be up to each member as to what she wants to wear. This is true to most of f(x)’s performances.
The dance choreography as in their other works is quite complicated. As many other groups seem to be doing more story telling instead of dance routines, f(x) 에프엑스 still gives us the dance. All in all I like this and hope to see more from them in the near future.
I have decided NOT to let the big Music Mogals stop me or let the music die. I will continue to review and promote Kpop. I thank those of you who have stayed with me and supported me.

15&

The duet named 15&  피프틴앤드consists of two young ladies in their mid-teens that could have  promising careers ahead of them. On the left we have Baek Yerin  (Yerin 예린) and the right is Park Jimin (Jimin  지민 ). They were brought together by JYP Entertainment and debuted in October of 2012 with their song/video called “I Dream”. I will leave it up to you for this review.
The big boys of music are pressuring me and threatening to close my accounts, don't they realize I'm trying to promote their music. I may discontinue this blog. I have not decided yet. If I can’t create a network then the music may die.

Miss A 미스에이 Bad Girl, Good Girl 나쁜 여자, 좋은 여자

The Kpop group known as Miss A 미스에이 started out with a bit of turmoil. They were to debut as a five member group. One of the original girls, (Lim) left the group to join another group called Wonder Girls.  Two more then left, leaving only Wang Fei Fei  (Fei페이) and Meng Jia  (Jia지아) as the core. They were put together with Bae Su Ji  (Suzy수지) who was an online mall model and Lee Min Young (Min) who studied dance in America to complete the group as we now know it. They debuted in June of 2010 with “Bad Girl, Good Girl” 나쁜 여자, 좋은 여자. In the above picture (left to right) we have Jia then Min followed by Fei and finally the maknae Suzy.
The set for the video takes place in what appears to be a school for the arts, namely the dance studio. I see the studio as the formal creative dance type but they give us a quite different dance performance. I have to say it would be more of a provocative creative dance, but tastefully done. They show off their flexibility on a few occasions, maybe mocking their counterparts in dance. The costumes are of simple black dance tights and body suits. Again, they are body forming tight but still tasteful.
The song itself talks of a girl who dances like a Bad Girl but loves like a Good Girl. Hence, the lyric “you don’t know me”. Her portrayal of dance, the clothes and hair style projects a negative persona. While the real her is a loving person. Although, all we see is the Bad Girl. It speaks of the hypocrisy of our thoughts as we watch her dance. As if to say “Who’s the truly bad person, you or I”? It goes on to say, she is looking for a man who can deal with her love for dance and be a real man with his actions, not his words and cockiness.  I think it’s one of the most forward approaches to this theme “who’s the bad one”.
